Gender Policy
Gender Policy

Introduction
Sri Lanka, shaped by Buddhist values, has a longstanding tradition of equality and harmony among all gender identities.
From historical female leaders like Queen Kuweni, Queen Anula, and Viharamaha Devi, to modern icons like Mrs. Srimavo Bandaranaike (the world’s first female prime minister) and Mrs. Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga (the first female president), Sri Lanka has demonstrated its global leadership in gender equality.
In alignment with global declarations such as the UN Human Rights Charter of 1948, Lotus Club acknowledges the importance of gender inclusion, including discussions around LGBTIQ+ rights, and commits to building a just and inclusive society.
